Dionysus Vineyard Merlot

The Dionysus Vineyard is another vineyard owned by the Sagemoor Group.  It sits right next to the Bacchus Vineyard in the town of Pasco in the Yakima Valley AVA.
The Merlot vines from where we are getting our fruit were planted in 1995 and we received just a little more than one ton.
Will we make a […]

Distribution in Maryland

We now have our Maryland out-of-state winery license.  Maryland does not allow out-of-state wineries to sell directly to the consumer.  But the residents of Maryland can now buy our wines through retail.
We are distributing our wines through RSVP Wines.  If you live in Maryland and would like to purchase our wines, let us know.  We’ll work […]

1994 Philip Togni Cab and 1977 Fonseca Vintage Port – A Couple of Beauties

Friday night, Billo opened the 1994 Philip Togni Cab.  I’ve had this wine a half a dozen times and it’s been exceptional every time (well, except one time a few weeks ago when the wine was slightly corked).

DuBrul Merlot is in

These last few days have been interesting.  We had an agreement with a driver to pickup our fruit from our different vineyard sources and bring them to Artifex.  We’ve used this person last year and we really like him.
This year, unfortunately, he’s left us high and dry in the middle of harvest and we’ve had […]

We received 3 tons of Seven Hills Syrah today.  I was very happy with the fruit.  So far we’ve received the following fruit:
3 tons Bacchus Vineyard Syrah
2 tons Kiona Vineyard Syrah
1 ton Dionysus Merlot
3 tons Seven Hills Vineyard Syrah
We still have a way to go.

Bacchus Vineyard Syrah

Last Saturday, we picked our first fruit for ‘09 – 3 tons of Bacchus Vineyard Syrah.  Bacchus Vineyard is one of the vineyards owned by the Sagemoor Group and has plantings dating back to 1972.  The vineyard is in the town of Pasco in the Yakima Valley.
The Syrah was planted in 1992 and makes it […]

Back to Walla Walla

This has been a weird harvest.  Bud break was 2-3 weeks late in the vineyards where we are getting our fruit.  But with the high heat over the summer, the grapes are maturing faster than typical.
We’ve already picked our Syrah and Merlot from Bacchus Vineyard and Syrah from Kiona Vineyard.
I landed in Portland yesterday.  Today, on […]
